Titleist marked the continuation of golf’s longest running success story as the number one ball at the US Open with their launch of Limited Edition ‘67’ stamped golf balls. The success and superior performance of Titleist golf balls is underlined every week across worldwide professional tours, but no record illustrates this astonishing achievement better than nearly seven decades as the golf ball choice for the bulk of the field at the US Open.
Titleist first celebrated its position as the number one golf ball at the 1949 US Open at Medinah Country Club. When the world’s finest players teed off in the US Open at Chambers Bay Golf Club on 18 June, marked the 67th consecutive year that Titleist golf balls have been trusted by the overwhelming majority of the field of this Major.
Since the start of the 2015, Titleist golf balls have once again dominated the counts across worldwide professional tours. More than 8,500 players choose to play the Pro V1 or Pro V1x golf ball, which is more than five times the nearest competitor with 1,532*.
It mirrors the statistics seen every year across all levels of the game, with golfers of all abilities – from leading amateurs to club professionals – trusting the quality and consistency of the number one ball in golf.
Having completed the clean sweep as the number one ball of choice at each of the four Majors in 2014, the count at this year’s US Open continues the overwhelming success of Titleist golf balls at Major championships.
This includes The Open Championship, where Titleist continues its record as the choice of the majority of the field since records began.
Titleist golf balls were not only the overwhelming favourite at the first Major in 2015, but also the choice of Masters champion Jordan Spieth, who trusted the feel and consistency of the New Pro V1x to seal his maiden Major victory, before also winning the US Open.
To celebrate this year’s landmark achievement at the US Open, Titleist has produced a number of limited edition Pro V1 and Pro V1x golf balls complete with a ‘67’ play number and accompanied by unique anniversary packaging.
These limited edition balls retail at R720 per dozen and are available at selected Titleist accounts across South Africa. Contact your local Titleist stockist or visit www.Titleist.co.uk for more information.
