In 15 years of the annual G-Sport Women’s Sports Awards, amateur golf has received only one nomination and that was Kim Williams back in 2010.
This year we have three finalists = so between all those ad breaks from The Open, please log on to www.gsport.co.za – click on VOTING, register and vote every day!
The other finalists and the federations and associations of the finalist are going mad on social media, so it’s time to get aggressive and beg for votes!
Our top ranked amateur Kajal Mistry has been named School Sport Star and Emerging Athlete of the Year and she is one of four double nominees this year.
You’ll find me there under Special Recognition.
I would really love to see Kajal win at least one of the categories, not only to put women’s amateur golf on the map, but to inspire all the juniors and kids thinking about golf.
She is lagging far behind in the voting, so please, please get busy and show your support! I know it’s a schlepp to register, but you get three votes a day, so please make it count.
And while you’re at it, throw some votes for Beverley Maphanga in the Woman in Radio category – she is the SABC producer who regularly puts our young talent on radio and the best behind-the-scenes person I’ve worked for going on 10 years.
Voting closes on 7 August. And you can also earn more points – check out https://gsport.co.za/how-to-vote-and-vote-again-in-the-2017-gsport-awards/
