2013 and what a great year for golfers and golf TV viewers. With four events, including three European Tour Events, taking place in South Africa in February what a great opportunity for rising SA golfers to make an early start to gain points for the ultimate target – The Race to Dubai!
On the men’s amateur side a new event – The 10 Nations Cup – in early February will ensure “strong international presence” at the SA Strokeplay and the prestigious Sanlam Matchplay events later in the month.
Tee and Sandwedges is continuing its steady growth and new contributors include Michael Balderstone, Dermalogica and Erica Lefson and we look forward to readers comments and any thoughts they might have on improving the magazine.
On the golf promotions side we are looking forward to an exciting year with 11 golf days, four events booked at Champagne Sports Resort, five new events at Graceland and in conjunction with Golf Vacations a package to play in the prestigious World Amateur Inter-Team Event in Malaysia. The reports I get on golf in this country are all very positive and I’m looking forward to joining the Gammons of Ultra Simple Golf and Patrick Barter on this trip.
Lastly the worst kept secret must have been Rory McIlroy’s move to Nike. For a huge sum of money Rory joined Tiger exposing a full range of Nike products. With new golf balls and the Covert range of clubs the Nike exposure will be huge in 2013.
First funny of the year – Lady Golfer – I got a new set of clubs for my husband.
Second lady – What a great swop!
See you on the tee.
