The set-up is a crucial part of a repeatable swing. The set-up plays a huge part in determining how well a golfer moves. The backswing has to have stability and coil and the follow through must have flow and speed. The swing is what the hands and arms do. The body movement keeps the club head on line and accelerating.
The “typical” way that we “know” to set up is as follows. Aim feet first, bend knees, stick bum out, keep back straight Head down and Oh! Put the clubface at the ball. (Pictures below illustrate poor set up.)
For a repeatable athletic set-up try the following steps.
In summary one needs to have a comfortable and athletic set-up. This will promote better body movement in the swing which will lead to more consistency and power.
