JOSEF Fourie from the Free State’s Hoopstad GC won the Gauteng North Mid-Amateur at Zwratkop CC after a play-off with Modderfontein’s Grant Wood. The pair tied on 141 after 36 holes, Hoopstad with a 71 and a 70 and Wood with a 72 and a 69.

Desmond van Viegen from Bloemfontein GC was third on 143, with Martin Kraft (Wingate Park), Craig Collins (Irene) and Johan Nel (Ruimsig) next best on 145.

Bellville’s Gerlou Roux tops the national mid-amateur Order of Merit with an astonishing five wins in five starts this year, including the SA Mid-Amateur Strokeplay. In 12 rounds in 2015 he has never been over par, and nine of those rounds have been in the 60s, including a sizzling 64 over Fancourt’s Montague course in the Southern Cape event.

Fourie is second in the Order of Merit and Modderfontein’s Steve Williams third.
