Gerlou Roux’s amazing run in mid-amateur golf in South Africa continued at the beginning of this month when he won the Western Province Mid-Amateur at Westlake on a score of 140 after rounds of 72 and 68.

This meant the 38-year-old Roux, who plays out of Bellville GC, had won every one of the six mid-amateur opens he had entered in 2015, up until the beginning of September, including the SA Mid-Amateur at Victoria CC in Pietermaritzburg with a 72-hole return of 277.

He also triumphed in the Central Gauteng, Ekhurhuleni, Southern Cape and Highveld mid-amateurs. Of his 14 tournament rounds, in those six wins, 10 were in the 60s and not one was over par.

He has produced consistently excellent golf, with his best 36-hole effort in the Southern Cape Open on Fancourt’s Montagu course where he followed up a sizzling 64 with a 69 for a 133 total.
