Dylan (17) wins Central Gauteng Open
State Mines teenager Dylan Mostert staved off four rivals with a birdie at the final hole to celebrate his first provincial victory in the Central Gauteng Open at Royal Johannesburg and Kensington Golf Club. The talented 17-year-old holed a two-foot putt at the East Course’s 18th for a one under 71 to finish one stroke clear of a four-way tie in second on a winning total of 12-under-par 276. Philip Kruse (Woodhill), Ruan Conradie (Wingate Park), Cameron (Kingswood) and Marco Steyn (Modderfontein) shared second on 277.

Venter’s 63 seals EP Open victory
A sensational course record 63 in the final round sealed victory for 19-year-old Albert Venter in the Eastern Province Open at Port Elizabeth GC. The teenager from Centurion CC had nine birdies in his round and his 54-hole aggregate of 210 saw him finish two clear on Jason Viljoen from the Eye of Africa. Elmo Barnard (Strand), Altin van der Merwe (Bellville) and Jason Smith (Irene) tied for third on 212.

Kruse’s double in Harry Oppenheimer
Woodhill’s Philip Kruse rolled in an eagle putt at the final hole at Maccauvlei Country Club to celebrate a long-awaited return to the winner’s circle in the Harry Oppenheimer Trophy. The 19-year-old collected the Vaal Amateur Trophy as the leading player through 36 holes and joined a prestigious list of past Harry Oppenheimer winners with a five stroke victory on 16-under-par 272. SA Boys U17 champion Herman Loubser from the Boland was second on 277 with James du Preez and Jason Smith sharing third place on 279.
