THE golf event of the year – The Ryder Cup – is over and again Europe won, comprehensively beating the USA by 16.5 to 11.5. The difference between the two teams was the Foursomes which Europe took 7-1 which made all the difference. Foursomes seems to be more a team game and this is where Europe dominated. The communication and Team Spirit of the European Team was evident while the US Team seemed to comprise of 12 individuals each trying their best.
October is going to be a great month for the golf media with the staging of the Kahn-Winter trophy where we media play against the Sunshine Tour professionals at Huddle Park, the opening of the Steyn City course, the Cell C SA Women’s Open at San Lameer and hopefully news on the men’s South African Open due to be played in November, as well as other events on the Sunshine Tour this summer.
Lynn and I recently met up with an “old” tennis playing friend Justin Mackrory who has progressed to the position of CEO South Coast Tourism in KZN. With some of the best courses in South Africa between Umkomaas in the north to the Wild Coast Sun in the south we are planning to set up a number of golf promotions at these beautiful venues.
Our women’s event at Champagne Sports Resort is only six weeks away and with over 100 ladies already booked there is still room for a few more players.
My funny – What do golf and sex have in common? They are two things you can enjoy even if you are bad at them!
See you on the tee.
