Spring is in the air and small green buds are appearing on trees which have appeared dead for the last four months. The good news for gautengers is no more three layers of clothing; the bad news no more 50-metre runs on the brick hard fairways.
The FedexCup Series and the end of the 2014 PGA Tour is well under way and if the Barclays event is anything to go by, SA golfers are in for three great weeks of TV viewing. Can Rory carry on his incredible run or can the ever steady Jim Furyk rise to the top? The Fedex preceeds the Ryder Cup which I believe with home ground advantage, an experienced team and of course Rory the European Team will again triumph.
In South Africa it’s great to see the large number of players competing in the Big Easy and IGT events around the country. These events are the nursery for young players to hone their skills before joining one of the any international tours around the world. The Cell C SA Women’s Open at San Lameer is attracting an excellent field and there are whispers that more Pro Women events are planned in the near future.
Our ladies event at the beautiful Champagne Sports Resort has already attracted 100 entries so girls get your entry in soon. Remember no men allowed and it’s a great time to enjoy yourselves both on and off the course.
